Teens stomped on in savage alleged gang attack in Melbourne’s west

A Hoppers Crossing mother has taken drastic measures to protect her family after a group of teens allegedly beat her daughter in a violent attack fuelled by schoolyard tensions.

A mother says she has been forced to move her family interstate after a group of teenagers allegedly beat her daughter in a violent attack fuelled by schoolyard tensions just hours before launching another assault at the same location.

The Hoppers Crossing mother, who asked not to be named, said she was at “breaking point” and had begun planning the move as a direct result of the assault allegedly unleashed by at least three teenage girls on her 12-year-old daughter.

Doctors checked the year 7 girl into hospital for potential brain bleeding after the group allegedly repeatedly punched and kicked her in the head outside a Hungry Jacks at Werribee Plaza just after 3pm on August 6.

It is understood the two alleged victims and assailants all attend Hoppers Crossing Secondary College and know one another.

Footage of the incident obtained by the Herald Sun shows one girl throwing another girl to the ground before swinging at least 10 punches at her while several onlookers surround her on Heaths Rd.

A teenage boy is believed to have live-streamed the assault on Instagram, where dozens of users witnessed the attack.

The girl’s mother became emotional as told the Herald Sun that the assault, which she feared continued to be spread online, had driven the family out of their home.

“We are at breaking point. I am in the middle of packing up the house to move interstate … as a result of this,” she said.

“It’s just so distressing for us parents to have to watch this.

“This just cannot happen.”

The young teen received online threats from her alleged attackers after the assault warning her of another potential attack the next time they spotted her.

“It’s on sight OK little b---- idc what ur mum does I’ll get but (sic) while family on you,” one message said

The mother said her daughter had been known to intervene in previous incidents at the school in which her alleged attackers reportedly targeted queer students and students of various cultural backgrounds.

She said this may have sparked the public confrontation.

“She is known as someone who is going to stick up for everyone,” she said.

The same group assaulted the woman’s daughter just two hours before allegedly attacking another 13-year-old girl outside the Hungry Jacks.

The Herald Sun is also aware of other students experiencing vicious bullying in the schoolyard including transphobic comments and other disturbing incidents.

Police are investigating both alleged assaults and believe they are linked.

Footage of the second incident showed one teen pulling the girl to the ground before two others stomped on her and kicked her while she lay on the ground with her hands covering her head in an effort to protect her face.

The girl can be heard screaming and crying while one alleged attacker pulled her hair and punched her several times in the head.

“Don’t lie to me,” one girl said.

“I told you not to lie to me, dumb b----.”

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the girl attacked about 5.30pm suffered minor injuries.

Police are probing the motive behind the two linked attacks.

A Department of Education spokesman said Hoppers Crossing Secondary College had an anti-bullying program that promoted inclusion and safety for every student.“

As a part of their duty of care, all Victorian government schools must have a bullying policy in place and implement strategies to prevent bullying and promote wellbeing for all students,” he said.

It comes after the Herald Sun revealed parents were banning their children from attending shopping centres across Melbourne in the wake of a spate of violent incidents.

On July 23, six youths allegedly chased a 15-year-old girl through Southland Shopping Centre before stomping on her head.

Three teenagers were stabbed outside Watergardens Shopping Centre on July 19.
