Teen, 16, among trio charged over alleged attack on Mohammed Oueida’s Fawkner home

Three more arrests have been made by detectives probing an alleged shooting and arson attack at a Fawkner home linked to gangland identity Mohammed Oueida.

More arrests have been made by detectives investigating a shooting attack and arson at the family home of gangland figure Mohammed Oueida.

Victoria Police said today three males aged 16 to 23 had been detained and charged as part of the probe into incidents at the property of Oueida’s parents, in Major Rd, Fawkner, last December.

A 16-year-old from Epping is among the latest arrested by armed crime squad investigators.

He has been charged with home invasion, two counts of reckless conduct endangering life, being a prohibited person using a firearm, discharging a shot at premises, vehicle theft and criminal damage by fire.

The teen will face a children’s court at a later date.

Also charged recently a 21-year-old Craigieburn man and a Clifton Hill man, 23.

They face counts of home invasion, two charges of reckless conduct endangering life, being a prohibited person using a firearm, discharging a shot at a premises, motor vehicle theft and criminal damage by fire.

They will front Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 1 July.

Two men had been arrested last month.

One was a 23-year-old Reservoir man who faces two counts of criminal damage by fire, reckless conduct endangering life, vehicle theft, possessing equipment used to make ID documentation, making ID documentation, possession of methylamphetamine and possessing ammunition without licence.

A 20-year-old Epping man was arrested at Melbourne Airport and later charged with home invasion, two counts of reckless conduct endangering life, breach of a firearm prohibition order, discharging a shot at premises, vehicle theft and criminal damage by fire.

They will also front Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 1 July.

The charges relate to separate incidents at the home of Oueida’s parents in December last year.

In the first, at about 11pm on December 23, it is alleged shots were fired at the front of house and two men tried to force their way inside.

They could not enter and left in a stolen Suzuki Swift.

Three people inside the property at the time of the incident were not physically injured.

The Swift was found incinerated on Fashion Parade in Broadmeadows and a gun allegedly found inside it.

In the second incident, reports of a vehicle fire on Major Rd were relayed to police on December 28 an 3.20am.

“Investigators will allege a number of offenders ran from a vehicle, pouring accelerant into the driveway of the Major Road address, before setting a blue Toyota Camry parked in the driveway alight. They then fled the scene in a waiting vehicle,” a police spokeswoman said.

“A short time later, police attended a second car fire. A Toyota Camry was located burnt out at the intersection of William and Lowson Streets.”

Mohammed Oueida is awaiting court proceedings in West Australia after being charged as part of two major drug investigations in that state.
