A second person has been charged with the murder of an 18-year-old man during a fatal knife-fight in Kurunjang last week.
Ngor Agear Dob, 22, appeared in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday nursing a heavily bandaged right arm following the deadly brawl on December 20.
Investigators charged Mr Agear on Monday night, three days after Kurunjang local, Konshu, was left for dead on the street.
Over 40 youths, including knife-wielding teens, were involved in the brawl outside homes on McBurnie Dr at about 7pm on Friday.
Police say Konshu was stabbed and fatally wounded, with emergency services unable to revive him, in what police suspect was a “targeted” attack.
The court heard Mr Agear was recovering from wounds to his eye, shoulder and arm, all on the right-side of his body.
It is understood he had been held under police guard in hospital in the days following the brawl.
Wearing a white T-shirt and tracksuit pants, the 22-year-old nodded when addressed by the magistrate but remained silent throughout the hearing.
Mr Agear’s lawyer told the court this was her client’s first time in custody and he had been prescribed medication for his injuries.
His co-accused, a 15-year-old boy, was charged with Konshu’s murder on Sunday and will face a children’s court at a later date.
In the wake of the deadly brawl, floral tributes were laid at the scene and a group of teenagers were seen consoling each other.
Konshu had graduated from high school shortly before the horror knife fight.
He is the fourth teenager who has been stabbed to death in Victoria in the past two years.
Mr Agear is set to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court again on April 24 next year.
