The body found in Noble Park has been formally identified as previously missing man Brendon Farrell, a police spokeswoman says.

The body was found by police searching for Mr Farrell on July 9 and suspected to be him, but the identity was not formally confirmed until now.

It comes after a third man has been charged over the suspicious disappearance and death of the Doveton man.

Richard Jackson, 49, from Doveton, appeared briefly in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with murdering Mr Farrell.

Charge sheets allege the killing happened some time between May 31 and July 10.

Mr Jackson did not speak during the administrative hearing, with his lawyer indicating he had an acquired brain injury, spina bifida and scoliosis.

He asked that his client be seen by the custody nurse on entering jail as he required pain medication for his diagnoses, and also needed Ventolin for asthma.

He was remanded to reappear in court on December 3, the same date two co-accused had their cases adjourned to when they appeared in court on Saturday.

Terence Tiumalu, 30, from Hampton Park, is also charged with murder.

Robert Haapakoski, 49, from Noble Park, was charged with being an accessory to murder.

Mr Farrell’s remains were found in the backyard of a Civil Grove home in Noble Park on Friday morning.

The gruesome find came following a public appeal to find Mr Farrell, 32, who was last seen on May 31 at his Doveton home.

Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Robert Hill said it had been a “complex investigation conducted by detectives from the Missing Persons Squad and the outcome thus far is testament to their commitment”.

“Our thoughts are with Brendon’s family and loved ones following what has no doubt been a very difficult and traumatic few weeks.

“The investigation remains ongoing and again we encourage anyone with information who hasn’t already spoken to police to come forward.”

Mr Farrell, 32, was last seen on May 31 at his home address on Kidds Road, Doveton.
