Former boxer Richard “Action” Jackson was a former housemate of missing man Brendon Farrell

A former boxer dubbed “Action Jackson” was quizzed over an assault on Doveton man Brendon Farrell the day he vanished.

Grave fears for Doveton man Brendon Farrell

Detectives spoke to a former boxer over an assault at a Doveton house on the day a man who is feared murdered vanished.

Police believe there was a confrontation at the Kidds Rd house where Brendon Farrell lived in the hours before he disappeared in late May.

Mr Farrell lived at the property with former boxer, Richard “Action” Jackson, who has been questioned by investigators from Dandenong about what he knows of the violence.

Mr Jackson told Channel 7 police thought he had attacked Mr Farrell.

“I hope he’s alive. I’d say he should be alive,” Mr Jackson said.

A painstaking forensic examination has been made on the property with furnishings and carpet removed for further laboratory checks.

Investigators will again search an area around Cranbourne on Wednesday for the body of Mr Farrell, amid what they say are “grave fears” for his safety.

They are confident “information received” will turn up a result in the 20ha area of bushland, which included an old racecourse and rubbish tip.

Missing persons squad chief detective Inspector Andrew Stamper said on Tuesday: “The fact we are here is significant.”

Police used a drone to help them in their search in the rugged area of bushland, which included dense scrub as well as sections of water.

Detectives are expected to return to the area near the parklands in the “coming weeks or days”.

Insp Stamper said Mr Farrell, 32, who was last seen on May 31 at an address in Kidd Rd, Doveton, was mixing with people “from the wrong side of the tracks”.

Insp Stamper said there was “certainly evidence of what I’m calling a violent altercation” at the Kidd Rd address that night.

“The people that frequent that address would not feel inclined to come forward (with information).”

“We don’t back away from the fact Brendon had made some bad choices in his life”

Mr Farrell was single, and his most recent job was as a forklift operator.

Insp Stamper said Mr Farrell had no medical conditions and had not disappeared before.

Checks of Mr Farrell’s bank accounts and phone have not revealed any activity after May 31.

He also had no access to a vehicle and preferred to ride a bicycle to get around, however his bicycle is yet to be located.

Mr Farrell is 168cm with a slim to medium build and shaved reddish hair.

It’s believed he was wearing a black tracksuit at the time he was last seen.

Anyone with information about Mr Farrell’s disappearance is urged to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
