A man has been charged with attempted murder following a weekend shooting in Melbourne’s West.
Accused attempted murderer Abil Malovski, 38, handed himself in to police Monday evening where he was also charged with reckless conduct endangering life, intentionally causing serious injury and prohibited use of a firearm.
He faced the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a brief filing hearing on Tuesday.
Among the five charges laid against him was one count of shooting a person in a public place “multiple times”.
Charge sheets suggest that Mr Malovski shot the partner of a person known to him.
He will return to court on August 1.
This comes after emergency services were called to a Federation Drive address in Melton on Saturday afternoon.
The victim, a 36-year-old Heathcote man, was discovered with “multiple gunshot wounds” to his upper body in what police believe was a “targeted” shooting.
The man was taken to The Royal Melbourne hospital in a serious condition.
The shooting was part of a horror weekend of violence in Melton, after an unrelated home invasion on Friday night resulted in a nine-year-old being assaulted by a group of men.
