Accused Eastlink shooter in cryptic Mongols post

A former boxing champ and newest member of the Mongols has bizarrely posted about club mate and Eastlink shooting accused Josh Rider.

Bikies in Australia: A short history

A former professional fighter with reality TV ties has joined the Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang.

Dylan Goddard – aka “the Destroyer” – has swiftly moved up the gang’s ranks after becoming a patched Mongol member in recent times.

The hulking bikie has been spotted outside the Port Melbourne clubhouse wearing club colours and associating with senior Mongols, including boss Toby Mitchell.

On social media he referred to Mitchell as his “brother by choice”.

Other photos show Goddard, a former boxing champion, in the ring with Josh Rider, one of two Mongols charged with the 2019 execution-style killing of fruitier Paul Virgona.

A month after the EastLink ambush, and before Rider was charged, Goddard posted a photo of them together at a restaurant with other Mongols bikies with the caption: “Never let ‘em no (sic) what ya thinkin boys.”

Goddard was known as the Destroyer during his heavyweight boxing days.

He was a regarded as a giant in the sport and is now a coach to the stars, including Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise contestant Timm Hanly.

Hanly competed at the star-studded boxing event Now or Never held in Melbourne in April and won against fellow Bachelorette contestant Kayde Wilkie.

Goddard previously posted a picture of himself and Hanly training with the caption: “My boi. (Love) ya.”

The Mongols are considered one of Melbourne’s most feared outlaw motorcycle gangs.

In March, the gang held its annual ride from Bendigo to Port Melbourne.

Approximately 70 bikies dominated the highways in the ride that ended at the gang’s Bertie St clubhouse.

Each of the bikies — including interstate and affiliate gang members — were photographed and their bikes checked over by police in a move enabling them to identify new gang members or power dynamic shifts among senior-ranking members.

Both Rider and his Mongols co-accused, Aaron Ong, have pleaded not guilty to the murder of Mr Virgona and have been ordered to stand trial.

They were arrested after a year-long homicide investigation, with no motive for the killing ever uncovered.

It’s alleged the bikies laid in wait near the father’s Croydon home for almost two hours before gunning him down on the freeway.

Eleven rounds from a semiautomatic gun were fired into Mr Virgona’s van, leaving him dead at the scene.

A half-eaten KitKat was used to help arrest and charge Rider and Ong after a year at large.
