Men set themselves alight following botched car attack

A bumbling duo have set themselves on fire after attempting to torch a car in a Wangaratta driveway on Saturday night.

Victoria Police have released footage of the two men setting light to a pool of accelerant leading to the vehicle when it flares up, sending both of them fleeing in flames.

The next shot shows one man rolling on the ground as he manages to extinguish himself while the other goes screaming past in a ball of fire.

That second man can then be seen frantically removing his clothing as he continues to burn.

Police have been told the men entered a house on Swinburne Drive about 9.15pm Saturday where they allegedly stole some personal belongings before heading outside to torch the car.

The residents weren’t home at the time.

The pair were last seen running towards Cambridge Drive.
