Stefanos Tsitsipas can expect a big fine after expletive-laden outburst at an Australian Open linesman

We’re going to need a bigger swear jar … Stefanos Tsitsipas can expect a mighty fine after blasting a linesman with a string of expletives in his native tongue.

A lesson in geography would not go astray for Stefanos Tsitsipas after the Greek sensation blasted a linesman on Friday with a string of expletives in his native tongue.

Melbourne is said to host the third largest population of Greeks outside of Greece itself, behind only the ancient capital Athens and cosmopolitan northern hub of Thessaloniki.

So it stands to reason Tsitsipas’ outburst, loosely translated below, was understood by more people than the Greek star bargained for.

“That w------ there has f----- me. F--- your house,” Tsitsipas shouted after dropping serve at 5-3 in the third set following a reprimand for a second code violation.

Not surprisingly, the tongue lashing resulted in another reprimand and potentially could lead to a fine.

Tsitsipas apologised about “losing my temper” in his press conference despite still being frustrated about the linesman’s late — “unfair” — call.

“It was heat of the moment. I said some really bad things,” a remorseful Tsitsipas said.

“I regret saying them. But I really wanted this really bad. At that moment it felt like it was slipping out, you know.

“So I was really frustrated. I didn’t quite think what I was saying.

“Yeah, I wish I could change that and wouldn’t say that. It’s not the right attitude.”

DJOK ON YOU

The #10YearChallenge social phenomena has taken the world by storm flooding feeds from Instagram to Facebook and Twitter.

But world No. 1 Novak Djokovic went above and beyond uploading two budgie smuggler-clad pictures of himself 10 years apart.

“#10YearChallenge modelling vs losing a bet with your brother,” the six-time Australian Open champion posted for his 8.5m Twitter followers to see.

SU-WEI TO GO

Chinese Taipei veteran Hsieh Su-wei will attempt to produce another Australian Open boilover, backed by an all-Aussie contingent.

Paul McNamee and Melbourne-based conditioning guru Tim Schleiger are Su-wei’s support cast as she faces US Open champion Naomi Osaka.

The 28th seed has juggled a busy schedule, which includes doubles and recovery sessions with Schleiger, with shopping for match outfits as she does not have a sponsor.

Ranked 343 in singles and 43 in doubles six years ago when McNamee began coaching — now only a mentor as based in Melbourne and working for Basketball Australia — she’s close to career-best No. 23 and No. 1 doubles ranking.

“She’s a free spirit. I relate it to some of our Aussie guys. Some people you can’t pigeon hole,’’ McNamee said.

“She’s having this incredible twilight, 33 and almost at a career-high ranking. She beat (Simona) Halep at Wimbledon. She’s not there to make up numbers.”

NICK’S NBA LESSON

We know Nick Kyrgios is a big NBA basketball fan but the Australian might be better off putting all his energy into tennis if his Instagram stories are anything to go by.

After being knocked out of both the singles and doubles here at Melbourne Park the Boston Celtics super fan has had his colours lowered, again, only this time at the hands of 2015 NBA champion David Lee, a two-time All-Star, in Melbourne supporting fiance and Australian Open defending champion Caroline Wozniacki.

At least Kyrgios, who recently collaborated with Melbourne-born NBA superstar Kyrie Irving on a new pair of Nike shoes, saw the funny side of being schooled by Lee during the pick-up game.

Kyrgios tagged one clip, shared to his 1 million followers, with ‘when you get dunked on by @dlee04”, while another showed the 206cm giant spin past the Australian for an easy lay-up.

J-MAN IN THE MIDDLE

John-Patrick Smith had the best seat in the house, if nothing else.

For punters not familiar with the ‘JP’s’ work, the 29-year-old Queensland was the shell-shocked shaggy-haired dude sitting alongside doubles partner Lleyton Hewitt on Thursday night as the tennis icon delivered one of the most explosive press conferences ever in Australian sport.

As Hewitt fielded all 34 questions the ‘J-Man’ sat in silence as the Australian Davis Cup captain tipped the bucket on exiled Bernard Tomic about alleged physical and verbal threats.

GRAND

Like father, like son. Roger Federer knows how to play a crowd in on-court interviews but it was the legend’s son who stole the show when cameras panned onto the players’ box. Adoring fans were treated to vision of young Lenny having a ball, repeatedly poking the face of the Swiss maestro’s coach Ivan Ljubičić.

SLAM

We cop the elements — rain and extreme heat — wreaking havoc on scheduling but “seagull pooh”… surely not? A world class event brought to a grinding halt because seagulls make a mess a Court 3 and forced Thursday night’s women’s singles match to start at 12:30am.
