Firebrand Nick Kyrgios has ended a controversial week for Aussie tennis with an auspicious guest stint in the Nine commentary box that has won over fans.
FEDERER’S ‘SPECIAL GUEST’ STEALS THE SHOW
Kyrgios, who was bounced out of the Open in the first round by big serving Canadian Milos Raonic, took to special comments during World No.1 Roger Federer’s straight sets win over up and coming American Taylor Fritz.

And fans loved it, taking to Twitter to praise an admittedly “nervous” Kyrgios.
Kyrgios was blown away by Federer’s “outrageous” opening set, which was completed in just 20 minutes, the 23-year-old gasping throughout before anointing it the best set of tennis he’d ever seen.
“It was,” Kyrgios said.

“I think when you are out there, you tend to think that, you know, it looks bad for the viewers, or for the people watching, and you might feel like you are playing bad.
“But from here, it was just Federer playing too good.”
Kyrgios offered a unique players’ perspective but was also excited by an up close and personal view of Federer’s talents.
“It is a lot different being behind here, watching it from this point of view,” Kyrgios said.
“You see how efficient Federer moves, always looking to come to the net, whenever he can.
“He is always trying to keep things on his terms.
“From this bunker position, it is so noticeable, particularly when Federer is on court, how much time he takes away from his opponent by how quick he moves. He is up on to the ball so fast.”
Kyrgios revealed 21-year-old Fritz was one of his “best mates” on tour, the two spending more time in front of the TV together than on the court.
“We play video games more. He is a bit of a gamer himself. For him to improve, I have to let him off the video games and do more training and see how it goes,” Kyrgios said.
I thought #nickkyrgios did a great job commentating - very insightful & knowledgeable. He knows his tennis, but why can't this translate into the court? To be playing on the world stage representing your country - be honoured and humble, not childish & ungrateful #ausopen #9WWOS

“He is one of my closest mates on tour. He has an incredibly big game. His movement from the back of the court is improving. I think today, he needs to go out and try and keep things short and on his terms. The serve and first ball is going to be key against Roger today.
“But, yeah, he is a good guy. He is very young. I forget how young he is. He has a great career ahead.”
Kyrgios had nothing but praise for Federer and his stint in the box will no doubt soften at least some of his detractors.
“He is very friendly, very down to Earth. He is very polite to everyone and he has an aura about him,” Kyrgios said.
“When he walks in, everyone kind of looks at him. He is greatness. He is. He walks in and everyone goes quiet. You stare at him. It gets a little weird. But he is definitely a champion.”
