Summer Slam: Vic U16 team defeat Queensland in day one of Australia's youth water polo championship (WPA Summer Slam)

The Victorian 16 and under boys team is looking strong heading into the quarterfinals on day two of the Summer Slam youth water polo championships in Brisbane.

The team defeated Queensland and the Barbarians at Musgrave Park Swimming Pool in day one of the highly anticipated tournament on Monday.

Victoria won against Queensland, 6-11, with Pavle Macic contributing four points in centre-forward and Koebe Nay adding two points.

They also defeated the Barbarians with a 16-point win.

The young team had eight goal scorers, with right-handed driver Daniel Magasanik one of the standout performers.

In the girls division at Langlands Memorial Park Pool, the 16 and under Victorian team lost by six points to the Barbarians White.

A close match was seen in the 18 and under boys competition as Victoria came up against the Queensland Gold team.

Despite the team‘s efforts, however, Victoria lost by one-point, 5-6 at the Valley pool.

Samson Magasanik was a standout for the Victorian side, adding three points to the away-side’s total.

Round two saw Victoria take on the Queensland Maroon squad in the 18 and under girls division.

The Victorians couldn’t keep up and were smashed by 23 points. while the 18 and under girls team also suffered another loss to the ACT, 10-6.
