AUSTRALIAN Stingers captain and three-time Olympian Rowie Webster has come full circle.
After years playing for clubs across the globe, the 34-year-old water polo veteran will return home to where it all began to lead the newly-minted Victorian Phoenix in the Australian Water Polo League.
The Phoenix will start their AWL campaign in the second tournament of the KAP7 Cup in Adelaide this week which will be exclusively live streamed by News Corp.

The tournament is part of News’ wide-ranging agreement with Water Polo Australia to bring you 88 games across the AWL season.
Webster, who is one of only three players to notch more than 300 games for her country, said it was a “privilege” lead the team in her home state.
“It means a lot ending my career in a state which has given me so much, with all my family and friends here, it’s really special,” she said.
“To finish my career where I started is the full 360.”
Webster said she hoped this is the last time the league sees a ’new’ Victorian team — that is unless another team is added.
She said she hoped to increase representation for young female players coming through the system.

“I hope this will be the platform that’s going to be sustainable across the next 10, 20, 30 years to come in the competition,” she said.
Young players in Victoria have experienced a tumultuous period in water polo with the state’s league folding four years ago and a lack of access to pools throughout Covid-19.
Webster said the lack of representation needed to be addressed because, “if you can't see it, you can't believe it”.
She hoped to watch the team, which has just signed on for a three-year licencing deal, succeed well after she hangs up her cap.
“Hopefully one day my feet are up on couch or I’m coaching and I’m watching these girls flourish,” she said.
“To say I was a part of that would be a privilege.”
The club will have teams in the men and women’s competitions and will compete in a combined tournament in Adelaide before the AWL regular season kicks off in late February.
Games will stream across The Courier-Mail, The Australian, The Daily Telegraph, Herald-Sun, The Advertiser, Hobart Mercury, plus many regional websites.
