Yowza Wellbeing Phillip Island — a gym that encourages persistence with a smile — is home to the best personal trainers in the region.
Yowza took out the top gong in Bass Coast News’ competition, as voted by our readers.
Aaron and Mandy Ransom opened the gym with a catchphrase “never give up, keep smiling” three years ago.
They say they are excited to have been recognised after so much hard work.
“There are really good trainers down on the island, so it’s cool to have been chosen,” Mr Ransom said.
Mr Ransom has been in the industry for about 20 years, and met his wife at the gym.
“I’ve done the memberships and managed groups of trainers,” Mr Ransom said.
“It’s nice to just focus on the clients and grow with them.”
Mr Ransom said the results “speak for themselves”.
“We’ve had a handful of people lose 20 plus kilos.”
The duo has also helped people in rehabilitation and others becoming more confident and comfortable in their bodies.
Mr Ransom has worked as a trainer, and trained others, and said this had helped him in his own career.
“I know what makes people tick mentally and physically,” he said.
“People are so different and we try and marry their differences up with them wanting to move better.”
The gym offers personal and group sessions, as well as barefoot and outdoor training.
