Live stream: Players to watch at Water Polo Australia’s 19 and U female national state championships

They are big, strong, fast, agile and super accurate in front of the net.

And they are out to impress national selectors, especially with numerous squads and tours coming up for our leading teenage water polo players.

The women’s national state championships, with matches being live streamed on KommunityTV over four big days in Melbourne from Friday, December 9, is a showcase for our water polo stars in-waiting.

They are players who could force their way into world championship squads in 2023 and even then the 2024 Olympic team.

Meet some of the rising stars of the women’s game diving into the 19 and under national state water polo championships.

VICTORIAN WATER POLO PLAYERS TO WATCH

Stella Radojcic is a rapidly improving goalie. Despite being relatively new to the sport, she has the build of a goalie and already knows her opposition from youth training camps.

Jemma Potts will have benefited from her recent Cadet world championship tour as a reserve. While Victorian, she plays in Sydney, and is known to create good opportunities through drives.

Mimi Stoupas hails from the Richmond Water Polo Club and played for Victorian Phoenix in 2022. A centre forward who in her three appearances in state league this season scored five goals.

Stephanie Jacobson plays for the Footscray Water Polo club and contested her first AWL season with Phoenix this year. Great shooter with speed and endurance.

Charlotte Cuthbert is also from the Richmond Water Polo Club and is a talented goalie.

The shot stopper also played her first AWL season in 2022.

NSW WATER POLO PLAYERS TO WATCH

Anneliese Pamp is a key player for NSW with good leadership qualities and composure when needed. The Sydney Uni player, whose sister also plays, is a dynamic driver and disciplined defender with great scoring ability

Samantha Hardingham is the big engine of the NSW squad. A member of the Australian youth squad, the Sydney University player is a tireless worker and has the ability to change the momentum of a game. Another great scorer.

Sienna Green has recent youth world championship under her belt and is a versatile player who can tackle CB/CF.

Layla Smith is scoring force for NSW and will also benefit from recent youth world championship exposure. The Balmain gun is a real danger player to her opponents.

QUEENSLAND WATER POLO PLAYERS TO WATCH

Molly Nasser also played at the youth world championships. A skilful player with the ability to create danger.

Taafili Taoso competed at the recent youth world championships and is a rising star of the game. One to watch.

Kate Blew is the engine of the team and a real shooting force. She was in the QAS/NSWIS team that competed in Serbia and Croatia in August and is a member of the Australian Junior team to play New Zealand in an upcoming series.

Amelia Watt also competed at the youth championships recently and is a dangerous post player.

Eve Gath is an U20 Australian junior squad member who recently toured the US and was MVG in the 2022 Premier League Final. A powerhouse in the cage.

Amy Middlemass is a utility player with an impressive outside shot and fearless attitude.

Key to the Polo Bears’ gold medal in the Premier League final in Queensland.

Olivia Camilleri is a strong driver with a powerful outside shoot. Also a team member of the Polo Bears team.

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN WATER POLO PLAYERS TO WATCH

Alyssa West is a current Stingers squad member. She is a solid player and experienced goal keeper in this age group

Tayla Dawkins has great driving ability and a way of creating something out of nothing. She is known as a dynamic driver.

WESTERN AUSTRALIAN WATER POLO PLAYERS TO WATCH

Isabella Sayer has had recent youth squad experience, is a dynamic player who is dangerous on drives and has the vision to create for others.

Jessica Bihler was the captain of the Cadet team which recently toured NZ. She is a solid utility player.

Allegro Childs is a solid driver, playmaker and has a mobile game. Her shot on drive is impressive.

Isla Mulligan/Isabel Scott are young, upcoming goal keepers with both the build for the job and plenty of potential.

TASMANIAN WATER POLO PLAYERS TO WATCH

Isabelle Walls has been representing her state at national level since she was 12. Has Australian Youth squad experience and played with Adelaide/Hobart Jets in the National League team.

Elma Brica has been in multiple state teams from U14s to seniors. Is a great goal scorer, agile and athletic.

After the championships many of these young players will take on their New Zealand opposites in a series of games.

ACT PLAYERS TO WATCH

Georgia Ellison is 17 and competes for the Dragons Water Polo Club.

This talented teen is in the Australian Youth squad and is looking to gain experience against older players at the NSC.

A dynamic driver, she will has both good skills and speed.
