Victoria will look to do their state proud at the U12 School Sports Australia National soccer championships amid difficult circumstances across the state with flooding.

KommunityTV will bring you live coverage of 17 matches from Pitch 1 at the Lark Hill Sportsplex in Western Australia across four days of competition.

The livestream coverage is set to begin on Monday, October 17 in two blockbuster back-to-back clashes between Victoria and New South Wales in the boys and girls competitions.

It will be the first time the tournament has occurred since 2019 with Victoria set to field four teams - two girls and two boys teams - in this year’s event.

Victoria coach John Sugunanthan said he was looking forward to his players putting in their best efforts.

“We want to do Victoria proud,” he said.

“Both teams are there to show that Victorian football is progressive and our style is attacking.

“The other goal is to get the most out of the players’ abilities and maximising their potential.

“Ultimately we want to do our very best and give the players the chance to remember this development opportunity, not just in football but in life development for them.

“It’s a privilege that they have got to experience something that is going to make them a better person, not just a better footballer.”

The Victorian boys are the reigning champions in the competition after winning it in 2019.

Prior to 2019, New South Wales won the top medal eight times from 2011 to 2018, including a shared gold in 2014 with Victoria.

The Victorian girls have won the title in three of the last six nationals carnivals.

They last won it 2017 sharing gold with New South Wales.

Sugunanthan said held high expectations for his state heading into the tournament.

“Victoria won last time in the boys so we go in taking the trophy to Perth and trying to retain it,” he said.

“New South Wales and Queensland are always strong but we will definitely hold our own and we are the reigning champions going into the tournament so there is an expectation for us to continue to do Victoria proud.”

The Queensland girls have won gold in three of the last four national tournaments.

Sugunanthan said the Victorians will go there to play a attractive brand of soccer.

“We go there to play good attacking football that is enjoyable for the players and hopefully it can get us some positive results,” he said.

“That is my interest in playing good positive, attacking entertaining football.”

Each team will be field nine players during games with three players to rotate from the bench.

Sugunanthan mentioned the Victorian teams had some exciting players to look for.

“We got some fantastic fast forwards that we will be trying to exploit,” he said.

“We got some calm creative midfielders that will be entertaining.

“And we got some very disciplined but also attacking minded defenders.

“And we have got goalies who are very good with their feet that we will definitely bring into the game when we have possession of the ball.”

The team were excited heading into the said.

“We are all pretty excited, we have got all our gear and nice Indigenous tops that they will wear with pride.”
