Candice Warner opens up about tough hotel quarantine wait for husband David

Candice Warner has admitted that having her cricketer husband David in hotel quarantine has been “tough” and she can’t wait for him to come home.

Candice Warner is counting down the days until her cricketer husband David is released from quarantine.

The former athlete has been looking after the couple’s three young daughters — Indi, Isla and Ivy — for months with David based in India competing in the Indian Premier League.

David, along with the likes of Pat Cummins and Steve Smith, are more than half way through the mandatory two week mandatory quarantine after being evacuated home to Australia when the IPL was shut down due to the serious spread of Covid-19 in India.

“It will be pretty emotional because it has been tough on David and ourselves,” Warner said.

“Especially the kids, they have really felt it this trip having their dad away and seeing everything that is going on in the news and feeling everything for the first time. It is going to be super special and we are going to cherish every day we spend together until he goes away again.”

Warner, 34, is unsure what time her husband will be released from quarantine but is excited to enjoy the simple things of family life with her husband and daughters.

“Just picking the girls up from school, David just loves daddy duties,” she said.

“Reading for them before they go to bed and tucking them in instead of being on FaceTime is for us what it is all about. We live a very simple life so for us just being together as a family and doing those things, whether it be picking the kids up from school, taking them to tennis, all of those things mean so much to us to be able to do them as a family.”

The champion cricketer has regularly posted images of his children on social media through lockdown and while abroad.

“David is always very optimistic and very positive about things so for us he hasn’t let on to anything but of course there has been I am sure times it has been super tough and hard. He remains positive and that is very important for our kids.”

Warner meanwhile spoke to The Daily Telegraph ahead of attending a n event for L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Pure Retinol in Woollahra today.

She said she regretted not looking after her skin when she was younger.

“I really wish that I did wear my hat a little more and I did wear sunscreen and zinc a lot more when I was younger,” she said. “I think maybe my skin would be a little more youthful now if I had.”
