But while the Saints failed to secure a big-name recruit in the off-season, it did secure what could become the club’s biggest weapon — former Hawk Ben Dixon as goalkicking coach.
Herald Sun columnist David King believes Dixon can “right a lot of wrongs” in 2018 and help propel St Kilda into the finals.

St Kilda averaged more behinds than any other team last year and more behinds per game with 13.6, compared to 12.3 goals (ranked 14th).
They had the worst conversion rate in the AFL at 45.5 per cent.
Herald Sun chief football writer Mark Robinson believes the Saints are “really close” to becoming a finalist and contender but the club needs Paddy McCartin to stand up and “help transform this football club”.
