Former AFL high flyer Russell Robertson enjoyed the Good Friday spotlight with seven goals for his suburban club Doveton Eagles.
The 40-year-old continues to perform at a high level for the Southern Football League club, who he has bagged 106 goals in 22 games for in the past three years.

Robertson kicked seven of Doveton Eagles’ 14 majors as they recorded a 14.13 (97) to 13.9 (87) victory over Springvale Districts at Springvale Reserve.

Robertson, who booted 428 AFL goals in 228 games for Melbourne, was not the only ex-AFL player to enjoy success on Good Friday in local footy.
Former Western Bulldogs skipper Matthew Boyd marked his first game for Doveton for two goals in an 82-point win over Officer in the AFL Outer East competition.
There was a host of local footy games played on the public holiday in Melbourne, with a crowd of about 3000 people turning out to watch Greensborough defeat Lower Plenty by 95 points in the Northern Football League.
Ex-Brisbane Lion and Carlton midfielder Tom Bell was one of the Boro’s best players as they stormed to a 23.16 (154) to 9.5 (59) triumph in front of a bumper crowd.

Blackburn thumped Balwyn in the Eastern Football League, ex-VFL forward Dean Galea led Keilor to a 17-point win over Strathmore in the Essendon District Football League, while Mt Eliza and Bonbeach were successful in the Mornington Peninsula Nepean league.
Braybrook accounted for Laverton by 40 points in the Western Region league.
There were also a host of games played in country Victoria as local footy took centre stage for the Good Friday public holiday.
