Adelaide vs. Western Bulldogs

Rory Laird

Are there any Crows left? The Bulldogs do have some experience back but I am expecting the Crows to win comfortably regardless. With forwards Taylor Walker and Mitch McGovern out due to injury, Tom Lynch should get on the end of a few up forward. Lynch reached a game high total of 127 SuperCoach points against the Suns in Round 6 and there is every chance he will do it again on Friday night. Jack Macrae is the obvious pick after scoring 141, 189 and 156 in his past three games. But the inclusion of former Kangaroo Sam Gibson makes me nervous about a run-with role (although given Macrae’s form it might not matter).

North Melbourne vs. GWS Giants

Shaun Higgins

Higgins is a forgotten man in SuperCoach since losing his dual-position status. Believe it or not, the silky Roo is averaging 102 points per game in 2018. The 30-year-old is every chance to top the scorers list against an undermanned Giants line-up.

Gold Coast vs. Port Adelaide

Tom Rockliff

Rockliff looks to be back to his ball-winning best after an impressive 27-disposal display last weekend following some big weeks in the SANFL. The perennial SuperCoach pig loves playing the Suns — his old arch rival — averaging 112 points in 13 encounters (including an injury affected score of 0). Take that out and Rocky averages a whopping 122 against Gold Coast. Posted scores of 125 and 137 last year and is the perfect POD option in this contest.

Essendon vs. Geelong

Patrick Dangerfield

Dangerfield notched up his very first game-high total for the season against the Magpies last Sunday, rewarding those who kept the faith in the SuperCoach stalwart. While he had just the six centre bounce attendances on the weekend, I am tipping him to go large against a dismal Bomber outfit. This is more of a gut feel selection considering his record against Essendon isn’t fantastic, averaging just 93.6 across 11 matches.

Sydney vs. Fremantle

Josh P. Kennedy

The contested animal had a down game after a stunning fortnight, blanketed by Hawks stopper Daniel Howe. Dockers tagger Bailey Banfield will most likely be given the job but JPK’s strength in the contest should see him win out comfortably against the youngster. JPK averages a formidable 116 SuperCoach in eight outings against the Purple Haze.

St Kilda vs. Collingwood

Brodie Grundy

You can’t change a winning formula, and this year that formula is Brodie Grundy. The Pies ruckman is in a Perfect 9 world of his own, posting his fourth highest game-high total against the Cats (equal with Dangerfield and Matthew Scharenberg). Tom Hickey has given up scores of 127 and 150 to opposition ruckman Max Gawn and Aaron Sandilands over the past fortnight, making Grundy an absolute lock in this one.

Carlton vs. Melbourne

Jesse Hogan

Hogan is revolutionising the role of a key forward playing up the ground and through the midfield, averaging 21 touches and just under three goals per game. The spearhead has beaten up on Brisbane (145 points) and St Kilda (game-high 130 points) so far this season and he has Carlton in his sights this Sunday.

Brisbane Lions vs. Hawthorn

Tom Mitchell

Conditions favoured Tom Mitchell last Friday but a tag from George Hewett kept him to just 72 SuperCoach points, his lowest score in Hawks colours. The ball magnet responded to his last slump with 49 possessions and 126 points against the Saints. The Lions did nothing to stop Jack Macrae racking up 47 disposals last week, so it safe to assume they will leave Mitchell alone.

West Coast vs. Richmond

Nic Naitanui

A week on the sidelines should see Nic Naitanui hungrier than ever to perform. His likely opponent Toby Nankervis is a poor hitout ruckman, which will suit the athletic ruckman perfectly. If Nank is rested and Ivan Soldo comes in, Nic Nat will be licking his lips. Adam Simpson hinted at extra game-time for the 28-year-old upon his return, making him a tempting proposition.
