Zac Foot is the top rookie target of Round 13 after a score of 61 on debut.
Zac Foot is the top rookie target of Round 13 after a score of 61 on debut.

TRADED IN

Zac Foot $123,900 FWD-MID

Al Paton: BUY – Best rookie option this week. Swans will play the kids and FWD/MID is gold.

TM: BUY – There aren’t many rookies that appeal this round but after a 61 on debut Foot is one. That MID-FWD swing could be very handy if you’re plugging holes during the byes.

DB: BUY – The number one rookie option this week with handy FWD/MID DPP and solid job security in a young Sydney side.

Luke Ryan $582,200 DEF

AP: BUY – Still kicking myself for trading him out after a poor score in Round 1. Will fix that mistake this week.

TM: BUY – No one likes paying top dollar for a player but after seven consecutive tons SuperCoaches with James Sicily might have no choice. Ryan is the safest bet unless you’ve got the bank to reach Jake Lloyd.

DB: BUY If you have the cash. Be mindful he averages 90 points away from Perth Stadium this season compared to 127.5 on his home deck and he may be targeted by Will Hayward this round after he blanketed Giants interceptor Nick Haynes.

Jake Lloyd $636,900 DEF

AP: BUY – SuperCoach stud and bye-free. If you don’t have him he has to be the No. 1 target in defence.

TM: BUY – You’ve missed out on 10 successive tons and an average of 138 in the past four rounds, but now is the time to grab Lloyd. If it’s out of Ryan and him just find the extra $50k. He’s worth it. As someone who went without him for about 10 rounds, trust me. It eases a lot of SuperCoach stress.

DB: BUY – Hasn’t dropped below 100 since Round 1 and you’ll immediately feel safer with him in your side.

Zac Williams $487,200 DEF

AP: BUY – the standout value option down back. Still a bit worried about his body, though.

TM: PASS – Can see him being managed, especially if GWS falls out of final contention or happens to lock in a top-eight spot. That’s going to hurt if it’s in Round 17 or 18.

DB: BUY – Averaged 107 from Round 12 last season and has followed the same trajectory with three-straight tons since returning from injury. A value option for Sicily with massive upside.

Nic Reid $102,400 FWD

AP: PASS – Job security and scoring potential both very low. But he is very cheap.

TM: BUY – But only if the extra $20k nets you a top premium. Zac Foot’s DPP makes him a better option.

DB: PASS – Likely to be a short stint in the Eagles side for Reid but may be worth the $102,400 if the extra $20,000 is the difference in buying the premium you’re after.

Trading for Bailey Smith two rounds before a bye is a risky strategy.
Trading for Bailey Smith two rounds before a bye is a risky strategy.

Bailey Smith $444,200 FWD-MID

AP: PASSIs this Tim Michell trading him back in? Let it go, Tim!

TM: PASS – It’s not me buying him, but I can understand the interest after his 150. I traded him last round to Michael Walters for a loss of 90 points. Did somebody say KFC? Smith has the Round 15 bye which is reason to steer clear.

DB: PASS – That Round 15 bye is looking ominous and for that reason I’d be steering clear of Smith if you are vying for rankings glory, despite his return to the centre square. He'd be a smart trade for those playing for league wins though.

Jy Simpkin $413,400 FWD-MID

AP: PASS – Good value but we’re going to have a lot of players missing in Round 15. That round won’t count for head-to-head leagues though, so if that’s your focus, go nuts.

TM: BUY – If you can still field 18 in Round 15. The Roos share a bye with Gold Coast, Geelong, Western Bulldogs, St Kilda and Port Adelaide and although Simpkin is well-priced Round 15 is going to be tough enough without adding to your selection worries.

DB: PASS – See Smith. If you are tossing up between the two I would go with Simpkin considering he is the number one centre bounce player at the Roos and is cheaper than Smith.

Caleb Daniel has been a consistent scorer but has the Round 15 bye.
Caleb Daniel has been a consistent scorer but has the Round 15 bye.

Caleb Daniel $494,300 DEF

AP: PASS – Round 15 bye is a major turn-off but a good price if you’re not worried about overall rankings.

TM: PASS – I prefer Adam Saad who is $20k cheaper and doesn’t have a bye like Daniel does in Round 15. The Bombers flyer is just as consistent as Daniel has been.

DB: PASS – The Round 15 bye is a big deterrent for me but he is as consistent as they come in defence with a season-low score of 81.

Nat Fyfe $581,500 MID

AP: BUY – Great price for a player capable of going on a run of 140-plus scores. Has had his bye, too.

TM: BUY – Any chance to get Nat Fyfe for less than $600,000 should be taken. I jumped on last week and was glad I did. He still scores big numbers floating between the forward line and midfield.

DB: BUY – Don’t worry about his forward minutes as his scoreboard impact and ball-winning while in the middle will ensure he pushes the 115 mark from here.

Matthew Cottrell could be the only rookie defender available in Round 13.
Matthew Cottrell could be the only rookie defender available in Round 13.

Matthew Cottrell $142,200 DEF

AP: PASS – Not the worst option if you need a rookie defender but if Will Gould is named for his first game I’ll pick him instead.

TM: BUY – Unless Will Gould is named. It would be a huge play but what if you downgraded James Sicily to a rookie and made up the points in your midfield or forward line? Best 18 is coming after all.

DB: BUY – Unless Will Gould is named, Cottrell is the only rookie defender available at this stage and looks to have a place in the Blues side for now.

TRADED OUT

James Sicily $540,800 DEF

AP: TRADE – Losing $50k the week he suffered a long-term injury was an extra blow, but still lots of good defenders to pick from.

TM: TRADE – The $56k loss after his 50 against the Eagles limits the options, especially for those with little bank. Regardless, you don’t have any choice but to trade him.

DB: TRADE – We may not see the Hawthorn star until 2022 after suffering an ACL blow.

Sam Simpson $296,500 MID

AP: TRADE – I’m probably keeping him for one more week – too many other problems! – but use his $172k price rise if you can.

TM: TRADE – One of the many rookies I overlooked this year – don’t ask me why. He’s done his job as a cash cow and after almost reaching $300,000 you can cash in by moving him to Foot.

DB: TRADE – Set to miss the next 2-3 weeks with a hamstring injury and is ripe for trading.

Mitch Georgiades is ready to be traded after a low score against Geelong.
Mitch Georgiades is ready to be traded after a low score against Geelong.

Mitch Georgiades $260,300 FWD

AP: TRADE – Missed his break-even last round and lost value. Upgrade him if you can.

TM: TRADE – He’s probably exceeded expectations for a young key forward by making about $130k.

DB: TRADE – Lost $7000 after scoring just 25 points against the Cats and is likely to lose more value with a 76 break even this week.

Izak Rankine $313,400 FWD

AP: TRADE – I’m not totally opposed to keeping him as your final forward if you can fill your other 21 spots with superstars, but don’t hesitate to trade if you need the money.

TM: TRADE – I’ve got a gut feeling he’s rested this round after looking a bit tired against Richmond. If he’s not, there’s no issue holding onto him for the best 18 rounds as we know he can score triple figures.

DB: HOLD – I’m opting to continue holding Rankine due to his capacity to produce premium-esque scores, which will be valuable during the byes. But if he is the only way for you to net a premium, it’s best to move him on.

Devon Smith $370,900 FWD-MID

AP: HOLD – I’ve held him for this long I’m in for the long haul. Can’t get much for $370k and at least he’ll play through the byes.

TM: HOLD – If you didn’t trade him when he was managed last round, why would you now?

DB: TRADE – I’ve held onto Devon too long and paid the price. Essendon has a tough draw coming up and the best move will be to trade him before he angers you more.

Mature-age Tiger Jake Aarts has reached almost $300,000 and been a valuable cash cow.
Mature-age Tiger Jake Aarts has reached almost $300,000 and been a valuable cash cow.

Jake Aarts $293,100 FWD

AP: TRADE – Aarts to Zac Foot will free up $170k and you won’t lose much in scoring power.

TM: TRADE – I’m still doing the maths on how he scored 52 from four disposals, but if we all knew the secrets of the scoring formula SuperCoach would be a pretty boring game. He’s done the job coaches wanted by making $170k.

DB: TRADE – He’s made $170,000 which is a great result, now it’s time to turn him into a premium.

Elliot Yeo $473,600 MID

AP: TRADE – Looked a bargain a month ago but has turned into a bust. Awkward price, maybe take a punt on Angus Brayshaw?

TM: TRADE – Aside from Nic Naitanui in the past three weeks, has there been a more frustrating KFC SuperCoach team this year than West Coast? Yeo is injured so the call to trade is an easy one.

DB: TRADE. Won’t be back for at least the next two weeks, giving you the perfect opportunity to turn him into an uber-premium.

Andrew McPherson $284,700 DEF

AP: TRADE – Another injured rookie. I’m hoping to turn him into Will Gould this week (do us a favour, Horse!)

TM: TRADE – He’s gone down with a hamstring injury at an awkward price, especially when Matt Cottrell is the only obvious rookie replacement. As Al said, cross your fingers Gould plays after Dane Rampe’s injury.

DB: TRADE – See Simpson. A 2-3 week hamstring makes him a must-trade.

Dan Batten and Tim Michell are advocating a Darcy Cameron hold for Round 13.
Dan Batten and Tim Michell are advocating a Darcy Cameron hold for Round 13.

Darcy Cameron $286,100 RUC-FWD

AP: TRADE – The cash will help you more than the possibility of ruck cover. Doesn’t help in Brodie Grundy’s bye.

TM: HOLD – He’d be the last rookie I would move on, especially if you’re using him for ruck cover. He’s shown he’s capable of scoring 80+.

DB: HOLD – Probably has one more week of cash generation left and can provide handy cover up forward or in the ruck.

Max Gawn $721,000 RUC

AP: TRADE – Trading him last week was a tough call but proved the right one. Even if he plays surely he’s not 100 per cent fit.

TM: HOLD – The Dees haven’t ruled Gawn out yet and until they do, those who have stuck fat shouldn’t be looking for an alternative. Especially with talk Nic Naitanui could be rested.

DB: HOLD – Even if he misses again. You’ve already held him through Round 12 and he will be a massive POD in the run home.
