They have been front and centre at training and games across the pre-season. So we asked 13 experts at Fox Footy for their top KFC SuperCoach picks — with some surprising results.
Supercoach
Don't miss out on the headlines from Supercoach. Followed categories will be added to My News.
In search of some SuperCoach intel, we went to the experts at Fox Footy’s 2020 Season Launch to find out who had caught their eye during the Marsh Community Series.
There were some obvious popular picks that came up, but also some less obvious suggestions when we asked for their ‘SuperCoach Special’.
But one player stood out more than any other.

Leigh Montagna
Brandon Parfitt ($427,400, FWD/MID) and Quniton Narkle ($396,600, MID)
“I reckon the two that will have big years will be Parfitt and Narkle at Geelong. They’ve got some massive growth left in them and I can see Chris Scott giving them more midfield time. I reckon they are two that I will be keeping an eye on for my SuperCoach team.”
Jordan Lewis
Hayden Young ($180,300, DEF)
“I like Hayden Young from Fremantle. I think he’s a good SuperCoach selection. I haven’t seen a hell of a lot of him play but he just reminds me of Grant Birchall. Left foot is the obvious comparison but he’s hard, prepared to make decisions where there is a little bit of risk involved which gives you an insight into his mentality. So I like the way he plays.”
Brad Johnson
Tom Green ($166,800, MID)
“Tommy Green. He’s the one. What he did the other day (in the Marsh Community Series) was just super. If he can hold a spot at halfback or half-forward and get up into the midfield and pinch-hit, he could create some huge numbers this year.”.
Cameron Mooney
Tom Green ($166,800, MID)
“I’m not sure what Tommy Green’s costing, but I’d be going to grab him very quickly. Talking to Jimmy Bartel who is on the board up there, he says he’s a beast and he’s a ready-made player and ready to go. So Tom Green, GWS, grab him, throw him on your bench and see how he goes. He’ll play senior footy this year, no doubt.”
Dermott Brereton
Will Hayward ($317,900, FWD)
“He had a lot of injuries last year. No one will have that much faith because he barely touched it (in the first Marsh Community Series game) but he had raw pace back which is the building block for everything. It looks like his body is good. He’s just got to step into a bit of form. If you like that hybrid forward who can get you some points and increase in value, I would say Hayward’s a goer.”
Sarah Jones
Tom Green ($166,800, MID)
“I like Tom Green. I think he’s shown a glimpse of future superstardom in the pre-season. I think he might be a good one to have in your teams.”
Anthony Hudson
Christian Petracca ($441,300, FWD)
“He is the classic case of the extra fitness during the pre-season, he plays more time in the midfield, will get plenty of points, he’s a good ball user. SuperCoach special.”
Jonathon Brown
Marlion Pickett ($123,900, MID) & Jack Crisp ($482,800, DEF)
“Pickett is the greatest bargain in the history of SuperCoach, clearly. He was nearly BOG in a Grand Final but that doesn’t impact his SuperCoach price. At $123,000 honestly you need to be sacked from SuperCoach if you don’t have Marlion in your team. That’s a free kick for everyone.
“I also like Jack Crisp. He’s a defender (in SuperCoach) but he’s going to play midfield for Collingwood this year, the majority of the year I would have thought.”
Mark Ricciuto
Connor Rozee ($422,100, FWD)
“I like Connor Rozee at Port Adelaide. I think he’s going to be in the top-three in the comp in a few years. No second-year blues coming for him. He’s a professional and I love what he does.”
David King
Hugh Greenwood ($463,100, FWD/MID)
“I think Hugh Greenwood will start every minute of every game in the midfield up north (at Gold Coast Suns). It’s a fresh opportunity, he had a fantastic pre-season, he’s a ball-winner. He’ll get 100-plus and he’ll be cheap as chips.”
Alastair Lynch
Matthew Rowell ($207,300, MID)
“You’ve got to put him in. He’s a star.”

Marlion Pickett ($123,900, MID)
“He’s a $100,000 buy and gee whiz, he’s worth a lot more than that. He’ll be $300,000 by the second round.”
Mike Sheahan
Tom Green ($166,800, MID)
“I’ve got a beauty here. I don’t know if I should tell you. I might keep it for myself. Tommy Green the GWS boy. His grandfather is a former Richmond premiership player so his pedigree is perfect and his first-up performance was great.”
