ADELAIDE V HAWTHORN
For all the time Supercoaches spent stressing about the lack of depth in the forward line, only 11.5 per cent had the sense to start with James Worpel.
Playing the 12th game of his career, Worpel announced himself as the man to fill Brownlow medallist Tom Mitchell’s role with an eye-catching performance against Adelaide.
Available as a Mid-Fwd priced at $395,700, Worpel opened the campaign with (110) points and will be a popular trade-in target before prices rise after Round 3.
Jack Gunston (103) and Jaeger O’Meara (105) were other prominent players in Hawthorn’s win on the road, while Rory Sloane (155) and Matt Crouch (138) dominated the SuperCoach scoring despite being on the losing side.
Popular defensive pick Rory Laird (102) was also his ever-consistent self for the Crows.

Popular rookies Willem Drew (103 points), Xavier Duursma (67), Connor Rozee (67) and Zak Butters (67) also impressed.

COLLINGWOOD V GEELONG
Rhys Stanley won the ruck duel against SuperCoach stud Brodie Grundy, helping Geelong open its account with a seven-point victory on Friday.
On a night where two of the most expensive players — Grundy and Patrick Dangerfield — failed to reach triple figures, Stanley amassed 108 points to lead all comers at the MCG.
Tim Kelly showed his value as a Fwd-Mid with 106 points from 31 disposals, while Luke Dahlhaus delivered the type of form which made him a popular pick at the Western Bulldogs by scoring 102 points.
A total of 10 Geelong players scored 95 or better.
Adam Treloar’s 34 disposals translated to 102 points, which made him the top scorer for the Magpies ahead of Dayne Beams (98).
Skipper Scott Pendlebury (96) was the only other Magpie to reach 90.
Grundy’s owners will be scratching their heads after he only scored 81.
