With the Australia Day long weekend just around the corner, we’ve compiled everything you need to know about what’s open on the public holiday in Melbourne.

WHEN IS THE PUBLIC HOLIDAY?

Australia Day is on Sunday, January 26 2020 so the public holiday is on Monday, January 27 2020.

SUPERMARKET OPENING HOURS

Coles: Mostly normal opening hours

Woolworths: Mostly normal opening hours

Aldi: Mostly normal opening hours

SHOPPING CENTRE OPENING HOURS

Melbourne Central: 10am-6pm

Melbourne Emporium: 10am-6pm

Highpoint: 10am-5pm

Chadstone: 10am-6pm

Eastland: 10am-6pm

Northland: 9am-5:30pm

The Glen: 10am-5pm

Pacific Epping: 10am-5pm

Pacific Werribee: 10am-5pm

Westfield stores: Geelong: 10am-5pm*

*Some stores and restaurants trading hours may vary.

POST OFFICES

Australia Post has confirmed no local mail or parcel deliveries will take place, including Express Post items.

Normal hours will revert on Tuesday January 28.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Trains

Services will run to a Saturday timetable and Night Network services will not run.

Trams

Trams will operate to a Saturday frequency, with the last tram one hour earlier than the normal timetabled service.

Times may also differ slightly from the Saturday timetable.

Night Network services will not run.

Buses

Most services will run to a Saturday timetable, but some services may be altered or will not run.
