What are Australia's most dangerous dog breeds?

Blogger and WAG Annie Nolan has been bitten after stepping in to stop a dog fight on the street in Melbourne’s west, but says she doesn’t want the dog euthanised.

Ms Nolan, 30, the wife of former Bulldogs star Liam Picken, was bitten on the hand during the incident on Barkly St, Footscray around 3pm Sunday.

Ms Nolan jumped from her car to help separate two animals after a dog on a leash, suddenly bit another smaller white dog waiting at the lights.

“I have previously worked in the dog industry, so I ran out of the car to assist,” she said.

“I grabbed the dogs mouth and my friend has tried to cool the dog.”

Ms Nolan said the animal unintentionally clamped down on her arm, drawing blood, during the commotion.

“I think it was a freak accident," she said.

“We don’t want the dog to be put down. It is more that the other dog is now in hospital and has medical bills, so they may need help from the owner.”

Ms Nolan is appealing for witnesses and for the owner to come forward.

The owner of the attacking dog was also bitten “pretty badly”, which is why they left the scene quickly, according to Ms Nolan.

“We hope they are okay,” she said.

In pictures posted to her blog and Facebook, Ms Nolan can be seen covered in blood and appealing for the owner to contact her.

But she said the wounds were fairly superficial.
