Melbourne metropolitan areas have been hardest hit by the coronavirus, according to new data released by the Victorian health department.
Fifty-five local government areas now have coronavirus cases.
Stonnington in Melbourne’s inner east has emerged as a hot spot for the outbreak in Victoria with 57 confirmed cases.

Thousands have stopped commuting to the city as they adjust to the new normal of working from home after the state government closed non-essential services, brought forward school holidays and begged Victorians to stay home.
Despite drastic measures being introduced, the state’s coronavirus numbers continue to rise.
As of the morning of March 29 there had been 769 confirmed cases in the state, with an extra 84 cases overnight.
Victoria’s Department of Health and Human Services is updating state-based data daily.
