VB launches new hop-flavoured Ceylon tea ahead of The Ashes 2019

A hard-earned thirst needs a big hot tea and now beer-drinking tea lovers can enjoy the best of both worlds as they cheer on the Aussies in The Ashes next week with this unusual drink.

Victoria Bitter has launched a limited edition VB Tea that smells and tastes like the iconic beer.

Made with black tea leaves and Victoria Bitter’s ‘super pride hops’, the drink is non-alcoholic and can be served with or without milk.

Victoria Bitter brand director Chris Maxwell said VB Tea was launched for weary-eyed cricket fans who’d be watching The Ashes late Thursday night and early Friday morning.

“We know Aussies love nothing more than watching the cricket with a VB in hand,” he said.

“So when the boys are in England, they’ll be watching into the wee hours of the morning and need a cuppa.”

Mr Maxwell thought cricket fans would prefer to drink a VB-inspired tea, than support the Poms by drinking English breakfast during the test.

So what does the tea taste like?

“It’s a nice mix between hops and tea leaves, and it has a nice aroma,” Mr Maxwell said.
“I hope (people like it). People like to try new things and this is a limited edition product.”

A limited number of 24-bag boxes will be for sale, costing $10.
