The chaotic aftermath of a dramatic chicken truck crash in northwest Melbourne have been revealed, with one witness describing the scene as something out of an action movie.
Footage has emerged of the Hazeldene’s Chicken Farm truck crashing into a bridge at Keilor yesterday afternoon, with its trailer flipping and hanging over the side of the freeway.
Witness Stephanie Kavcic has told the Herald Sun she heard the sound of heavy braking and then saw the semi trailer jack knife.
It took out a power pole which caused “a large flash and booming sound” she said.

“I was in my car about seven to eight cars back from crossing under the bridge,” she said.
“The truck kept sliding and slammed into the bridge railing and flipped over. A couple of cars were hit by debris but they kept driving.
“It was like watching an action movie to be honest.”
The crash about 5pm spilt debris including raw chicken down onto Green Gully Rd below the entry ramp.
It also caused major delays, with outbound traffic pushed back onto the Tullamarine Fwy last night.
Ms Kavcic said she was told the truck driver had been cut off by another vehicle.
“I jumped out of my car and ran up to the scene as I was on the phone to triple-zero,” she added.
“Emergency services arrived very quickly and blocked cars from being able to drive under the bridge.
“There was one car who decided he didn’t care and drove straight over the debris at a reasonable speed on to Arundel Rd and he ended up skidding quite close to those of us who were calling triple-zero.
“The amount of debris which was raw chicken was insane. I was in absolute shock and can’t believe nobody was injured or killed. Somebody was looking after all of us yesterday that’s for sure.”

Crews from VicRoads, Metropolitan Fire Bridge, Victoria Police and Powercor worked through the night to clean up the mess, with the truck removed by two cranes around 2am.
All inbound lanes of the freeway reopened just after 9am but a 60km/h speed restriction remains around bridge.
The truck driver was taken to Footscray Hospital after the crash and has since been discharged today.
