A young boy is recovering in hospital with serious injuries after he survived a horror crash that killed his father in Gippsland.
Adam Sutton, 35, died when three cars collided at the intersection of Traralgon-Maffra and Farmers roads in Glengarry about 3.50pm on January 31.
His six-year-old son, Darcy, was a passenger in his car and was flown to the Royal Children’s Hospital with critical injuries where he remains in a stable condition.
A fundraiser page, created by South Gippsland Livestock, has raised more than $13,000 for the boy.
“This little man is a fighter and continues to show his determination and toughness everyday,” it read.
“Darcy will need ongoing medical treatment and rehabilitation for months, if not years.
“We would like to support Darcy and his family and we hope you are able to as well.”
It comes as tributes flowed for the passionate stock agent and “superdad” of two.
Hayden Rogers told the Herald Sun he was struggling to come to terms with the death of his mate.
He said Mr Sutton, also known as Sutto, lit up the lives of those around him.
“It’s very hard to talk about Sutto at the moment but to be honest he was just that fun lad you always wanted around and made life better,” he said.
Friends also said Mr Sutton had a “heart of gold”.
“Adam was one of the nicest and kindest people you could ever meet,” Allan Noppert said.
“We are absolutely devastated and in disbelief at the heartbreaking loss of our Adam, the best ever stock agent and dear friend. Forever missed,” Andrew and Kate O’Mara said.
In a statement on social media, Mr Sutton’s brother Dean Sutton thanked the community for their support.
“Thank you to everyone who has sent love, support, condolences, thoughts, food, and flowers as we process the tragic loss of our brother Adam,” he said.
“We continue to be amazed at the strength and fight in little Darcy, it truly has meant the world to be surrounded by such kind hearts.”
Mr Sutton leaves behind his partner Krista and children Darcy and Pippa.
