Drug kingpin Tony Mokbel’s go-to defence lawyer Sarah Tricarico has been charged with driving offences by a specialised squad that investigates criminals and their cashflows.

Court documents show the lawyer was charged in March by Victoria Police’s criminal proceeds squad, just one month after it raided her home and office.

Charge sheets show she faces two counts of driving a vehicle while suspended - on the Princes Freeway at Laverton North on August 5 2021, and along Little Bourke St in the CBD on December 8, 2022, despite that date not having occurred yet.

The criminal defence lawyer, who has been acting for Mokbel in his Lawyer-X appeal since 2017, had her Aberfeldie home and CBD office searched on February 1.

She was charged with the driving offences on March 24.

The jail cell of a Port Phillip Prison inmate and her client, believed to have been involved in the ANOM sting, was also raided.

The investigation did not relate to Mokbel.

The special police squad that conducted the search works to probe unexplained wealth around criminals and their syndicates, investigating money laundering and asset holdings.

Ms Tricarico, who has her own firm Sarah Tricarico Lawyers on Little Collins St, often acts for other high-profile clients including George Marrogi and Warren Shea, who was acquitted of a gangland murder.
