Thugs have stormed a house in Melbourne’s southeast this morning during an aggravated burglary.

But in a rare twist, police have arrested the victim.

Police were this morning at the home on North Road in Ormond after two men broke in about 6.45am.

A man and a woman were home at the time.

The man was assaulted during the attack and received minor injuries.

He was treated at the scene.

The woman was not harmed.

It is not yet clear if the thugs took anything from the home but a red car, parked in the driveway, can be seen with a smashed rear window.

Police later confirmed that while at the scene they arrested the male victim for unrelated matters.

The offenders remain on the run.

Victoria Police spokesman Alistair Parsons said the investigation was on going.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
