Everybody needs good neighbours as they say in Erinsborough.
And even Melbourne’s uber rich in Toorak have lived up to the adage ahead of a big society wedding.
Toorak’s tree-lined households received a letter at the weekend warning there would be a party on Sunday night.
Nicole Gandel, the granddaughter of billionaire, mega philanthropist and Chadstone owner John Gandel, is tying the knot with Avi Koth at her parents’ home with many rich-listers in attendance.
The respectful note left in letterboxes nearby the grand property read:
“Dear Neighbour, We are holding a very special wedding event in our home, this Sunday the 11th of June, from 6pm and hoping to finish no later than midnight.
“We will be having live music. We apologise in advance for the noise level, but are grateful for your understanding on this one-off special occasion.”
The note also said local police had been alerted to the function – with thanks and kind regards.
Witches hats were seen being set up and event hire vans being unloaded around Toorak streets on Sunday morning.
The family gathered in celebration last December when another of Gandel’s granddaughters, Lauren Thurin, wed Ollie Howard, the son of outgoing Victorian Governor Linda Dessau.
They say good fences make good neighbours and lucky for the Gandel’s they have a towering wall that most medieval households would be proud of.
