The Source: Sting in the tail over The Project’s demise
The Project finished up last Friday with a “funeral-like” wrap party at The Forum Theatre. But it was who wasn’t invited that had tongues wagging.

Putting the squeeze on Victoria’s movers, shakers and headline makers
The final weeks of The Project were an all-round love-in of reunions and farewells.
But The Source hears that amid all the teary tributes, some former staff were rather unhappy to be snubbed from the wrap party of the Channel 10 show that ended last Friday.
The ticketed event was held at The Forum Theatre to mark the show’s 16-year run.
Originals Carrie Bickmore, Dave Hughes and Charlie Pickering all returned for the final episode, and there was even an appearance via a recorded video message from ex-host Lisa Wilkinson.
But some former hardworking staff – and there have been many over the years – weren’t given a chance to bask in the afterglow of their behind the scenes toil on the current affairs program.
To make matters worse, while they were left off the guest list, Paramount boss Beverley McGarvey – who effectively swung the axe on the Melbourne-made show – was invited.
The Source hears that those who were lucky enough to make the cut were more in the mood to commiserate than celebrate, with attendees describing a funeral-like atmosphere despite all the love surrounding its final days.
Seeing red with the boys in blue
Yarra Park is a peaceful place on a weekday morning.
Which is why locals out for a stroll around the MCG on Monday were so shocked to see a silver Ford Everest speeding along the park’s narrow footpaths.
After the vehicle did two U-turns, one of the good burghers of East Melbourne decided to pull them over and see what the problem was.
It turned out the two men inside the vehicle were lost, having tried to cut through the park to dodge the traffic on Punt Rd.
And they really should have known better – they were police officers in an unmarked car.
