Putting the squeeze on Victoria’s movers, shakers and headline makers.
Wayne Carey appears to have dialled down the numbers after a now-infamous “3 times” social media boast sent the internet into a frenzy.
Earlier this week, the former Roos star was deep into X (formerly Twitter) banter about the footy trade period, when cheeky fans couldn’t resist winding Carey up asking why he left the North Melbourne team back in 2002.
Lightheartedly, Carey replied “Really?”, but plenty of savage social media users piled on, posting about his infamous affair with Kelli Stevens, the former wife of North Melbourne champion Anthony Stevens.
Carey has publicly labelled it as “the biggest regret of my life as an adult”.
When an account called Bloody Bulldogs pointed out Carey was traded after sleeping with a teammate’s wife, the footy legend responded with “3 times”.
It’s not clear if he was admitting to having slept with one person three times, or slept with three teammates’ partners.
However, on Friday, Carey returbed to X to say the “3 times” brag was him being “facetious” and he called for “perspective”.
Meanwhile, that perspective may have come almost on cue from cryptic online post from Kelli Stevens.
Stevens moved on from the scandal, to a new life and loving partner, years ago. But her post alluded to still being cast as an “expired version” of herself.
She added a “boldness towards the truth” will “piss” some people “off”.
Nova trio gets desperate with Ross and Russel stunt
Radio hosts Ben Harvey, Liam Stapleton and Belle Jackson have yet to taste the sweet success of ratings victory in the competitive Melbourne radio market.
But the Nova FM trio this week went the desperate route and made the hotline bling at the city’s all-time No.1 show, 3AW Breakfast, hosted by Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft.
“Older people, they don’t have Netflix. They just listen to the radio all day everyday,” Stapleton said on Thursday, in a Gen Y explanation of how Boomer radio crushes everything.
Harvey then called Stevenson and Howcroft’s popular “grouse of shouse” segment.
“First time caller, long time listener, love the show,” Harvey said. “It’s absolute shouse when people wear activewear in a professional workplace.”
Stevenson: “Ben, define activewear? It’s more clingy than a tracksuit is it not?”
Fair question, Ross.
Let’s just say it’s definitely not clingier than an FM stunt aiming to undermine radio royalty.

& Juliet star mixes musicals and motherhood
Musical theatre favourite Amy Lehpamer has never been accused of milking her performances for attention ... until now.
The acclaimed performer, soaking up the spotlight as Anne Hathaway in the jukebox stage hit & Juliet, was snapped backstage in Singapore with milk bottles a-danglin’.
While she’s earned rave reviews for playing Hathaway, Lehpamer’s greatest role is being a proud and doting mum to baby, Avery.
“It’s a day-to-day logistical adventure, but I’m really enjoying it,” Lehpamer said when the show played in Melbourne earlier this year. “I spend my days watching Avery grow and change so rapidly, then I do the show at night. It’s an amazing balance.”
