Putting the squeeze on Victoria’s movers, shakers and headline makers.

Scotch College appears to have learned its lesson in leadership selection.

Scotch, one of the most prestigious on the land, has appointed Katrina Brennan, former principal of Shelford Girls’ Grammar, as deputy principal.

The 172-year-old institution seems to have chosen well with current principal, Dr Scott Marsh, whose trumpet playing and leadership skills continue to impress.

But the elite school was not so lucky with Dr Marsh’s predecessor, Matthew Leeds, who was sacked before he even started following the emergence of a complaint against him dating back to his Geelong Grammar days.

Following that fiasco, the school conducted a “forensic investigation” into Dr Marsh’s background. You bet they did.

While the Scotch community will be glad to welcome Ms Brennan, some will be happy to see her depart from Shelford, an Anglican girls’ school that’s had some challenges in recent years.

As the Herald Sun reported earlier in the year, the 125-year-old girls’ school has had declining enrolments, an unstable financial position and a high staff turnover.

A few years ago, more than 60 staff warned the board about the school’s “toxic culture”.

A letter from Shelford’s board Pam Russell praised Ms Brennan’s “significant contribution” to the school and said she “will be missed” when she departs at the end of the year.

But the Source senses the letter fell short of the fulsome gushing that accompanies most departing school leaders...

Libs up their social media game with Dan space junk burn

Forget TikTok. The Libs, traditionally lousy at ‘gram slams, have inexplicably lifted their game and gone Tit-4-Tat with the sultan of socials, Dan Andrews.

Indeed, the Victorian Premier’s social media following has long been a secret of his success.

His Facebook and Instagram feeds are full of quirky posts, none of which Dan does himself.

That fun and frivolity is the handiwork of his social media team.

However, a Danstagram post about space junk that flamed up the night sky over Melbourne on Monday proved to be rocket fuel for Libs MP David Southwick.

“It’s not a huge flare celebrating the Matildas last night,” the premier wrote on his official Instagram page.

“Experts are still figuring out exactly what it is.”

By then, Southwick was ready for blast-off.

Attaching a headshot of the premier to a shooting star jet stream, Southwick wrote on Insta: “After going missing from parliament, Victorians have reported overnight seeing Daniel Andrews running from telling them how much the Cth Games cancellation will cost taxpayers.”

Houston, we have a problem. Danstagram needs Sam Pang’s comedy writers. STAT!
