Putting the squeeze on Victoria’s movers, shakers and headline makers

A shrine to the late Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny has appeared out of nowhere on one of Melbourne’s busiest thoroughfares.

The shrine, on Princes Bridge, between Flinders St Station and Hamer Hall, includes photographs, flowers, candles, posters and a gallery of pictures of “persecuted Russian heroes.”

One poster was more direct, claiming in bold type: “PUTIN KILLED NAVALNY”

It is not known who erected the shrine, or if it will be removed.

Navalny, a strong critic of Russian president Vladimir Putin, died suddenly in a penal colony on February 16.

His wife, Yulia, accused Mr Putin of having her husband killed, an allegation the Kremlin has angrily rejected.

Tay Tay finally shows the love for Sydney

Taylor Swift showed love for Melbourne almost immediately after her sellout run at the MCG.

“Melbourne, what do I even say to you after over 288,000 of you came and danced with us in the last 3 nights?” T.Swizzle posted the day after her third show.

“That was unforgettable. You were on another LEVEL. Thanks for the memories. I’ll revisit the ones from this weekend often.”

Fast forward to Sydney, where Swift played four stadium shows last weekend. However, when she left, radio silence.

Why? Surely after the Travis Kelce sideshow, multiple zoo visits, and eating at a random Italian joint, her Insta-love would flow for the Harbour City?

No. Tay Tay, now in Singapore, made them sweat.

She finally posted on Thursday: “Sydney … what a whirlwind of endless magical moments. I want to thank all of the Aussie fans for being so positive and passionate, so funny and wild and FUN.”
