Putting the squeeze on Victoria’s movers, shakers and headline makers.

A Melbourne martial arts legend who worked as a bodyguard to the Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac and David Bowie says he still gets offers to spill the secrets of the superstars he once protected.

“Everybody wants me to write a book,” actor and martial artist Richard Norton said.

“But they want it to be about sex and drugs and rock and roll. As a bodyguard, I became so close with these people and I saw everything. But I would never tell those stories because it’s a confidential position.”

Norton worked as a bodyguard for the Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger, Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, ABBA, Linda Ronstadt, and James Taylor.

He also trained Jagger and Taylor in martial arts and boxing.

“I’d be teaching Mick at four in the morning after the shows,” Norton said.

“James, I trained as hard as I would a black belt. We would stop tour buses in the middle of nowhere in America, sometimes on the side of a highway, because he’d want to do some training.”

Norton, now 73, is famous for his roles in Hong Kong action films, and has starred in movie hits including The Octagon, opposite Chuck Norris, and Mr Nice Guy, with Jackie Chan.

He has also worked as a fight coordinator on blockbuster movies Mad Max: Fury Road with Charlize Theron, and Suicide Squad with Margot Robbie.

He recently filmed a pilot for a planned TV drama series, Monk 458, written and directed by Dale Reeves.
