It draws in prime ministers, premiers and sporting stars, but the details of this year’s birthday bash for Lindsay Fox are being particularly closely guarded.

Putting the squeeze on Victoria’s movers, shakers and headline makers

It may be the biggest event in Melbourne’s upcoming celebrity calendar, but the details for the 87th birthday party of Lindsay Fox remain cloaked in secrecy.

It may be this week.

It may be staged in a hangar at Essendon Fields airport, and may feature the Scottish highland theme which attracted the paparazzi’s eye at Fox’s birthday last year.

The guest list will certainly be impressive – a prime minister, an opposition leader, and a few ex-premiers, if last year’s list – which also included Greg Norman, Eric Bana and Lloyd Williams — is a guide.

Politicians, St Kilda footy connections, business people from here and abroad and long serving employees will be there, along with friends who date back to Fox’s days at Melbourne High School seven decades ago.

Expected guests were tight-lipped when contacted by the Source.

Former premier and expected guest, Jeff Kennett, attended last year’s men-only bash at the National Gallery of Victoria.

He was slightly more forthcoming.

“When one of Lindsay’s friends passes away, he is the first to go around to the home to offer solace,” Kennett said.

“He is very much into friendships.”
