The leaders of both political parties will face off in a Sky News/Herald Sun people’s forum in the final week of the Victorian election campaign.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and Opposition Leader Matt Guy will front the one-hour forum in front of 100 undecided voters before the November 26 poll.

The voters will be provided the opportunity to put questions directly to the two leaders on their vision for Victoria.

The forum will be hosted by Sky News Australia Chief News Anchor Kieran Gilbert.

“The people’s forum has been a key moment in many recent elections including during this year’s federal campaign,” Mr Gilbert said.

“It is the best format for leaders debates in election campaigns, as it hands the power to undecided voters.”

Herald Sun Editor Sam Weir said the forum would be a significant moment in the 2022 election campaign.

“This is a critical election for our state, and together the Herald Sun, Victoria’s most-read masthead in digital and print, and Sky News, will allow everyday voters to question Daniel Andrews and Matt Guy on the issues that really matter to them,” Mr Weir said.

“The people’s forum will greatly assist Victorians in making an informed choice on who they believe should lead our great state for the next four years.’’

Chief Executive Officer of Sky News Australia Paul Whittaker said: “The people’s forum debates provide a unique opportunity for undecided voters to ask unscripted questions on issues of importance to their lives outside of the tightly managed political cycle.

“This people’s forum will provide a fascinating insight on whether the people of Victoria are ready for a change of government or if Daniel Andrews is on track to win a remarkable third term as Premier.”

The people’s forum events have been staged at federal and state elections since 2010 when Prime Minister Julia Gillard debated Opposition Leader Tony Abbott.

The Sky News/ Herald Sun People’s Forum will be livestreamed online at heraldsun.com.au.
