Despite all odds the woman hit by a roller coaster at the Royal Melbourne Show has shown a slight improvement in her condition.
Shylah Rodden, 26, suffered horrific injuries to her head, pelvis, arms, legs and back after she was hit by the Rebel Coaster carriage travelling up to 70km per hour on September 25.
Since the accident, Ms Rodden has been kept in a medically induced a coma at Royal Melbourne Hospital.
But on Wednesday the hospital confirmed Ms Rodden is now in a stable condition.
It comes after her condition had been downgraded from critical to serious on October 11.
Despite the good news, its still not yet clear what the road to recovery will look like for Ms Rodden, who suffered severe brain damage along with crushed bones.
Previously her father Alan Rodden has revealed that his daughter’s injuries were “horrific” and that the whole family were standing by her side hopeful she will one-day show some form of recognition.
He said she was “plodding along” and “will be all right”.
The WorkSafe investigation surrounding the tragedy with the assistance of detectives from the Yarra Crime Investigation Unit is ongoing.
The ride was closed for a few days following the incident but was cleared to reopen when no issues were identified.
After the incident shocking footage emerged of the moment Ms Rodden was hit.
The footage shows her inside the barrier where she was hit by the carriage dragged and thrown up to nine metres.
A Go Fund Me page has been set up to pay for Ms Rodden’s care which has received 351 donations still just shy of the $20,000 goal.
