MELBOURNE is getting ready to rumble, with the biggest wrestling event staged in Australia set to take over the MCG on Saturday night.

WWE Super Show-Down — a wrestling mega event featuring the biggest stars of the show — will pack the stadium in another win for Victoria’s major-event bragging rights.

Legends Triple H and The Undertaker will face off for the last time in the showcase that has also brought Ronda Rousey to Melbourne for the first time since she lost her UFC title in 2015.

On Thursday Rousey and her UFC fighter husband Travis Browne — worth an estimated $17.6 million combined — touched down in town and explored the streets of Melbourne,

Tomorrow night Rousey will take centre stage before a near-sellout crowd of up to 75,000 packing a reconfigured MCG for the event, which will be beamed to 180 countries in 24 languages.

Organisers say fans have flown from interstate and overseas in droves, with about 35 per cent of all ticket sales coming from outside Victoria.

Triple H said yesterday he’d been mugged by fans from LA, New York, Japan, China and New Zealand.

“There is no sporting city in the world like Melbourne, and massively into things they are, and that’s awesome,’’ he said.

“People talk about it (the MCG) in epic proportions and I’m excited to get in there — your stadiums are very different to our football stadiums.”

The wrestling event will also see the general public admitted into seats, bars and restaurants usually reserved for the MCC.

It means seats usually off-limits to anyone but an MCC member with a shirt and tie will be occupied by chanting wrestling fans wearing what they like.

Sports Minister John Eren said the MCG had been transformed into a different kind of major-event mecca, just a week after hosting the AFL Grand Final.
