Stars were out in force at the Melbourne Fashion Festival, as guests suited up and glammed up for a big night of sartorial splendour.
TV hosts Robert Irwin and Julia Morris thrilled the crowd by making their catwalk debuts with Morris showing her personality as queen of the Glam Up Runway.
Irwin switched from khaki to fancy for the earlier Suit Up Runway which featured some top men’s designers including Dom Bagnato who was honoured for 40 years in the business.
“I’m referred to in the family as the fashionable Irwin – khaki is what I’m most comfortable in but I can rock the colour. It’s a vibe,” Irwin said.
Headline guests included Dannii Minogue, Melissa Leong, Dylan Alcott and Chantelle Otten, Shaynna Blaze, Matt Agnew and Khanh Ong, Sharon Johal plus Lana Wilkinson and Effie Kats.
The Glam up Runway was a highlight of the week with joyful event dressing at its finest.
Designers showcased included Paolo Sebastian, Cappellazzo Couture, Jason Grech, Mariam Seddiq and Alin Le’Kal.
Earlier on Wednesday menswear brand Haulier was named winner of the coveted National Designer Award presented by David Jones.
The six finalists were all on display at the Collingwood Yards.
Haulier launched three years ago by designer Jeremy Hershan who studied in Melbourne and worked overseas.
“I launched with one product that was travel related in Covid so I always had a burning ambition and I’m pretty good at digging my heels in,” he said.
Chris Wilson, General Manager of Menswear, Kids, Home, AV & Food at David Jones, said: “If you think back to the past winners, Dion Lee, Toni Maticevski, Christian Kimber, P.E. Nation, they all got launched into mainstream fashion so it’s a really impressive award.”
