Pop princess Kylie Minogue to be immortalised as Barbie doll

Kylie Minogue is cementing her status as a global icon with the pop princess now immortalised in the form of a Barbie doll.

Kylie Minogue is certainly in her icon era.

The Australian pop princess is adding to her growing global status by being immortalised as a one of a kind Barbie doll.

The Kylie Minogue Barbie is dressed all in red, inspired by the unforgettable custom Mugler look from the video of her Grammy Award-winning song, Padam Padam, complete with red bodysuit, matching organza harness and intricate lace up boots. It also features the signature Padam red tips in her hair.

Kylie Minogue is being immortalised as a one-of-a-kind Barbie doll for Barbie’s 65th anniversary celebrations.

“I think Padam Padam was a good look for my Barbie moment because she’s very current,” Minogue said.

“I feel like she’s going to be timeless; she pops, it’s a very unique outfit. I love everything about Padam. I think it was a good choice, she looks amazing. She’s got some drama.”

Barbie is recognising inspiring women worldwide, including best-selling author Viola Davis, singing superstar Shania Twain and acclaimed actor and advocate of women’s stories Helen Mirren.

Minogue admitted to feeling “overwhelmed” and “wonderful” when she first saw herself as a Barbie doll.

“It’s weird in that moment, being face-to-face with a version of yourself. A really good version, by the way. I wish I woke up like that,” she said.

Kylie says she wishes she woke up looking like her Barbie doll likeness.

Melbourne’s own Minogue said she loved the Barbie movie, made famous by Australia’s Margot Robbie in the lead role.

“There was so much to love and so many takeaways from the Barbie movie,” she said.

“I particularly love the moment where Barbie meets Ruth at the bus stop I think it was, that was really a poignant moment. Any moment Ken was there was great, he was definitely ‘Kenough’.”
