MELBOURNE’S most famous falcons are causing a flurry with two chicks disappearing just weeks after their birth.

The peregrine falcons, who have some of the best views of the city, welcomed the arrival of two chicks on October 4 at their nest 33 floors up at 367 Collins St.

The falcons have been living at the top address for more than 25 years and have their own reality TV Show — well, live stream of the family’s movements.

Just one plump white chick had been in the recent vision while the other had not been seen in days. Rather a white, lifeless lump had been seen while one chick moved around and was fed.

But both chicks have disappeared from the live stream since yesterday.

HIGH-RISE LIVING: THIS IS THE FALCON LIFE

The 367 Collins Street management team has issued a statement saying both chicks have died.

“It is with deep sadness that we advise that the second chick has died either overnight or this morning,” the team wrote.

“We are unaware as to the reason for death and will seek advice from the Victorian Peregrine Falcon Association. We hope that next breeding season will be more successful.”

Birdlife Australia spokesman Sean Dooley previously told the Herald Sun they were the only peregrine falcons nesting in the CBD.

“One if the reasons they are in the city is there is plenty of tucker for them, as they like to feed on pigeons,” Mr Dooley said.

A Birds Australia volunteer started the breeding program on top of the building in 1991.
