We all know AFL Grand Final tickets are a rare commodity when that last Saturday in September comes around.

But these fellas have a unique idea that may snag them seats to the biggest game of the year, all thanks to a popular trend with the help of social media.

Joel Eyles and best mate Riley Srey are completing the “trade up challenge”, where they trade a possession of theirs with something of a similar value multiple times, hoping to end up with two tickets to this year’s Grand Final.

Remarkably, the pair started with a footy card of St Kilda cult hero Fraser Gehrig, and have so far traded their way to get their hands on a signed Lance Franklin guernsey from the 2008 Hall of Fame Tribute Match.

Joel Eyles, who will be hoping to see St Kilda win their first flag since 1966, says it would be “unreal” if their “G-Train” footy card could turn into tickets to the big game.

“This year’s finals series is shaping up to be a massive one so it would be unreal to be sitting in the stands on grand final day,” he said.

“We traded the G-Train card outside the MCG in round one for a 1980s VHS tape of the VFL season and a Magpies poster, and five or six trades later we’ve got a Buddy Franklin guernsey.”

“We’ve done trades with the Essendon footy club, with Sherrin, we’ve traded a signed Gold Coast Suns guernsey too.”

A vintage Port Adelaide jacket and a whole box of footy cards have also been part of the trades, with Mr Eyles working hard to secure the next valuable item.

“I’ve been talking to a few ex-footy players so hopefully I can get something sentimental from them, maybe something that money can’t buy,” he added.

“Hit us up if you potentially want a piece of rare footy memorabilia.”

The pair of footy-loving larrikins have also used their Tik Tok account to convince outgoing AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan to kick a torpedo with them at Marvel Stadium and are now preparing for Fox Footy’s longest kick competition.
