CHANNEL 9 has thrown its support behind Garry Lyon as speculation mounts of a switch to a rival network.
Nine made it clear to reporter JON RALPH yesterday it still saw a place for Lyon. The Demons legend returns to print and radio this week despite the demise of his relationship with close mate BILLY BROWNLESS after revelations he was having an affair with the former Geelong star’s wife, NICKY.
Page 13 understands the pair are still seeing each other which would make any future working relationship with Billy impossible.
But Lyon could switch to Seven or even return to Footy Classified while also covering football at Fox Footy.
And with AFL radio rights up for grabs, it’s possible he could find a new home on that platform as well.

■ A COOL wind continues to blow through Government House following our revelations last week that Official Secretary DOUG TRAPPETT had moved on after just 87 days in the job.
Leaked internal emails show the level of excitement around Mr Trappett’s appointment in April was high, with Governor LINDA DESSAU gushing about his “invaluable experience” during what was bound to be “a happy and productive time”.

IS THE PROJECT MOVING NETWORKS?
Sadly, the enthusiasm didn’t last with the atmosphere said to have become toxic quite quickly.
We await further developments.
ON THE MONEY
■ THERE would be one T-shirt-wearing, baseball cap-doffing NAB call centre worker laughing hard today.
When NAB shipped its call centre people down to Docklands, governance and reputation chief MICHAELA HEALY walked up to said shabby bloke telling him to take his feet off the desk.
His response — along the lines of “get fed” — saw him hauled over the coals, but he kept his job.
Surprisingly, he has outlasted Healy who resigned yesterday.
Of course, Page 13 tipped this in May when we suggested disarray in the comms team. By our count 10 people had leapt overboard in the last year. We stand corrected — it’s more like a dozen in six months.
