Brodie Ryan never has to bring another Christmas present back home.
The former country girl was born into a Collingwood mad family, so when she presented one of the Magpies all time legend’s at Christmas dinner you can imagine the response.
“I was born and bred Collingwood. It was a non-negotiable in our household growing up. Some children were wrapped in beautiful bunny blankets, I was wrapped in a Collingwood scarf,” Ryan laughed.
“So yeah I’m done with buying Christmas presents. That is my Christmas present,” Ryan joked of her partner, Collingwood hero, former premiership player and coach Nathan Buckley.
Buckley and Ryan have now been together since 2022, recently returning from a Balinese getaway.
Because as they say in the classics, couples who colonic together, stay together.
She says the pair are feeling all the better for having returned from a week long visit at wellness retreat “Sukhavati Bali”, part-owned by ex-AFL footballer, commentator and wellness advocate Luke Darcy. The couple cleansed, ate vegetarian food and took part in Ayurvedic treatments and detox therapies.
“Castor oil, detoxes and organic enemas.” (Oh my!)
“It is a complete gut reset. We definitely both needed the rest and rejuvenation and have come back feeling phenomenal. I had some health issues and gastrointestinal health issues for about two months before we went which was the motivation to go to this retreat. And we’ve come back feeling fantastic,” she said.
Back in Melbourne and Ryan, a businesswoman in women’s health at Epworth Hospital, has traded the retreat’s prescribed simple cotton outfits and bare faced no-make up, for full glam.
Ryan will be special guest at The Langham Hotel on Tuesday for the inaugural Winter Runway Fashion Show in partnership with Melbourne My Style.
Wearing a show stopping gown from local designer Aron Katona, who will present his new collection on the night, Ryan said it was so important to get behind our homegrown artists and designers.
“To be able to show off some of the Melbourne designers work and their talent at Tuesday night’s event at the Langham is really exciting,” Ryan said.
“It’s paramount for these designers to have a platform and to be able to show their hard work and their products off, especially in this economic climate.”
