FOOTBALLERS aren’t as tough as they might think they are.
A new survey has found Aussies rate police, paramedics, nurses, childcare workers, teachers and defence force personnel as tougher.
Sports stars such as AFL and NRL players don’t even make the top ten of tough professions according to a study of 1000 Australians commissioned by Mercury Cider.

Even chefs and cab drivers are seen as much tougher than footballers, who came in at number 18 out of 20 tough professions.
Mim Orlando from Carlton United Brewery said it was “clear that Australia’s views on what defines tough have shifted”.
“AFL/NRL players have always been exceptionally tough, but fans seem to have a greater appreciation for tough acts of all kinds, not just physical,” Mr Orlando said.
