A heartbroken mother is mourning the loss of her “amazing” daughter after she was killed in a horror crash in Point Cook.

Hayley Dienjes, 28, was a passenger in her friend’s car when it was spotted allegedly driving erratically on the Princes Freeway about 1pm on March 2.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle but the chase was called off when officers lost sight of it.

The vehicle then allegedly crashed into a barrier on Forsyth Rd and Ms Dienjes died at the scene.

The driver, a 35-year-old Wyndham Vale man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

On Wednesday, the man was charged with multiple offences including culpable driving and dangerous driving causing death.

He has been remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on May 31.

Ms Dienjes’ mum, Rhonda Macheras, told the Herald Sun she was heartbroken over the death of her daughter.

“Hayley was an amazing person who was loved by everyone and the person there if you ever needed anything,” she said.

Cailah Brady said her friend was a “firecracker”.

“Hayley, thank you for all the memories during our schooling years,” she said.

“You were a firecracker and I will keep those memories forever.

“Rest easy angel.”

A floral tribute was placed at the scene of the crash and included a wooden cross and a photo of Ms Dienjes with the words “Rest in paradise. Fly high beautiful”.

It comes as Victoria recorded 68 deaths in the first 66 days of the year.

This is 18 more than at the same time last year and a 45 per cent increase on the five-year average.
