Point Cook: Woman dead after after collision on Forsyth Rd

A woman has died and a man is under police watch after a collision at Point Cook, with traffic on the Princes Freeway affected.

A woman has died and a man is under police watch after a crash in Point Cook on Thursday afternoon.

A 35-year-old Wyndham man and a female passenger were in a car allegedly driving erratically on the Princes Freeway around 1pm.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle but lost sight of it as it sped away. A short time later, it is alleged the car crashed into a barrier at Forsyth Rd.

The female passenger died at the scene while the male driver sustained injuries. He is currently under police guard as the investigation continues.

Ambulance Victoria confirmed it attended the scene to provide medical assistance about 1pm.

“Paramedics treated two people on scene. One man was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition,” a spokesperson said.

Police are trying to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Hoppers crossing exit outbound on the Princes Freeway is closed to traffic as is Forsyth Rd following the incident. Drivers are being diverted.
