Monash Freeway sign misspells Glen Waverley as Glen Waverly

WE all know how to spell this Melbourne suburb. But it seems the people responsible for signposting the Monash Freeway have no idea.

A TYPO has distracted motorists using a new lane on the Monash Freeway.

An eagle-eyed commuter snapped this picture of a sign advertising the Springvale Rd exit to “Glen Waverly”.

Unfortunately for the signwriter, the suburb doesn’t exist. But Glen Waverley does.

It’s a common mistake that locals have been dealing with for decades.

VicRoads Project Director for South Eastern Projects, Ray Paterson, said the sign would soon be amended.

“We’re aware of the issue with this Monash Freeway exit sign and apologise for any confusion this may have caused drivers,” he said.

“The sign will be corrected within the next week.”
